I am so sorry. This shite sucks! You are not being too sensitive; scary representations of black men are very powerful. When I lived in Europe a decade ago I was saddened by the far-right anti-immigrant propaganda distributed in the neighborhood where I lived. The pamphlets depicted “scary,” “African” immigrants whose

“Lyric Analysis....as poetry.” !!! This is new to me, but then I’m not a young cosmopolitan.

“I can’t be bothered. Being a woman, it’s just a bit weird, mate, sometimes”

I just hate this. Don’t know what else to say. My heart goes out to women this vulnerable already at the mercy of the system finding a despicable/horny/opportunistic pig of a man in their way when they are simply trying to live (and hopefully improve) their lives! I feel like the fact that I’m not in a similar

Ooh, that’s been on my list for ages!!! I love Susie Wokoma’s performance too. I’d love to see her in other roles.

YAAASSS! I thoroughly enjoyed both seasons. Michaela Coel is awesome, but I have to say that I love the sister, actress Susie Wokoma. Such a great show.

She was a rebel on the bridge at the VERY beginning of the movie, and she has a line that she shouts out to Leia et al. while Poe is leading the attack!

I screamed when I saw her!

So glad we are getting more of ‘Chewing Gum.’ The first two seasons were some of the sharpest comedic writing ever and I’ve really grown to love the cast of chaotic, misfit characters.

I just found the trailer that has this scene (it should start at the moment you are talking about). I think what’s so odd is that a bunch of prisoners are staring menacingly, and there are only two black guys in the first shot but one of them is doing something more than just staring meanly at the bear. It’s subtle

Side note - did anyone catch Michaela Cole in The Last Jedi, briefly? In the very beginning!

Chewing Gum is a great show and Coel is a brilliant writer/performer. Really looking forward to the third series.

Haha beautiful!

Don’t forget that after the Central Park 5 were exonerated he STILL insisted they were guilty.

Lol, it’s worse than that:

This makes me sad. I love malls. I love getting a bucket of pretzel hot dog bites and a cinnabon and then going into a Barnes & Noble and read books all day.

Wait, the principal thouroughly explained that one. It was a thought experiment, as in, what good reasons did the ruling class see for slavery. It was just... not worded carefully enough, but that’s totally what they actually meant! *barf*
