@Minister of Fun: The difference there is that those people are being paid to wear said masks. Here you have people who voluntarily wore it for no monetary gain. So a better comparison would be furries, and furries are also creepy as hell.

I have the same desk/dresser combo set up in the same fashion. Although I use a shelf to elevate much of my workspace. I also use the round version of the dioder lights. I should stop procrastinating put up my cork boards and poster and submit my workspace.

My only issue would be putting excess strain on the door (mainly it's hinge) and wearing it down to fast. But that's only for cheaper ones, some of these things are built like a tank and should with stand some abuse from a child.
