Love Them
I just wanted to chime in and say that I love these guys. I first heard them a few years ago on the Inside Abbey Road show on IFC. I was halfway paying attention when Grounds for Divorce started up, with Guy banging on that iron bar during the chorus, and I was never the same again. I've since bought all

Don't talk about my wife

I love Badmotorfinger to death, but Fell on Black Days is their best track IMO. Don't you lock up something, that you wanted to see fly—-hands are for shaking, no not tying. Awesome.

Yeah actually, what is the deal with the appliances always breaking down? It really does seem every challenge has one oven that doesn't get hot enough, or one burner that doesn't work. Sometimes even deep frying machines eat themselves from the inside out. Does Tom sneak around the kitchens at night sabotaging

MSG, your avatar makes me uncomfortable

You've got it right Leatherman. Any time Pearl Jam is mentioned in AVC I find the comments to be pretty depressing. Why all the hate? Even if the music isn't your particular taste, the band itself has pretty consistently acted in the best interests of its fans—-an attitude that most bands don't even strive for let

It seemed pretty clear to me that Tre was up for anything the "team" wanted (in this case vocalized by Angelo), since he had immunity and was safe.

First Names
I watched The Enemy recently on the BBCA reruns, and I noticed that while Geordi yelled out "Wooooorf", he also called out "Commander Riiiiiiker!", which sounded pretty awkward (maybe just "Help!" would work?). But I realized that it would have been out of character for him to call Riker by his first

Hyundai
I'm a fan of the show, but not enough is being said here about the fucking atrocious product placement. I can't remember having seen an advertisement from a major sponsor being woven into the storyline like that, and it's pretty foul, and pretty much all I could think of after the episode finished.

I'm one of the biggest fans of aubrey/maturin that I know, but I couldn't finish 21—-it just made me too sad when text switch from typed to handwritten and I knew it was about to cut out as O'brian neared death. Oy, maybe some day.

For a deeper understanding
I highly recommend a book called Sea of Words, written by Patrick Obrian's biographer Den King, for those continuing with the series. It provides an alphabetical listing of terms and concepts mentioned in the books, along with pictures, diagrams and contextual descriptions that really

Also, I loved the movie treatment. I wish it had done a bit better business so we could have had more installments, there might not be 20 A-level movies to be had in the series, but there's certainly plenty more than we're going to get.

Agreed wholeheartedly. The Aubrey/Maturin books are basically one brilliant novel with two of the deepest characters you'll ever meet. They've collectively been my favorite novel for a long time now, and I've made it through the entire series twice so far, with a third one looming before long.

By the way my name is Autumn or some such shit

Not trying to haunt this guy or anything, but having read his first book and hated it I can tell you he's nothing like Stephenson in either ambition or talent. Try another Stephenson instead like Cryptonomicon or the sci-fi-ier Diamond Age.

More Implausibility!?!
Daemon was maybe the most implausible book I've ever read. A guy dies and is SO good at computers that his left-behind program is able to effectively anticipate every move the police and fbi make as they attempt to investigate his estate, and can even carry on real-time conversations with other

wrong and dumb

Holy shit, but that was well done, Perv.

Slomo, I thought you were kind of a dick at the beginning of this thread, but I can't help but agree with you. That said, I still enjoy Burn Notice episodes, even the weaker ones. I would also prefer that they give the characters back some of the edge they had in the beginning. I had actually forgotten that Sam and
