Sounds like The Fall (the 2006 Lee Pace one) did it better.

For what it’s worth, season 1 is relatively self-contained; no cliff-hangers or significant dangling plot threads, just hints at future stories. So if that’s the concern, please feel free to watch season 1 (and help the rest of us get a season 2)!

If I wanted a not-remotely-historical Da Vinci show, I’d 1000% rather rewatch Da Vinci’s Demons

Agreed - I understand bold fashion choices, but they were distractingly bad. Instead of sitting there thinking ‘oh she’s great as Lucifer’ or ‘oh what an interesting concept,’ I’m sitting there thinking ‘what is that on her head?!’

I’ll agree Dream’s character was a bit all-over-the-place. In terms of being too moody, I think that might have been a necessary side effect of time compression (on the audience’s side). Unlike waiting for comics, most viewers are watching season 1 over a weekend or so - If I just spent my Saturday night watching

I agree, and I’d add a more general wish that TV shows would stop being so afraid of episodic storytelling. Character development is good, obviously, but plot-standalones/bottle episodes allow for so much creativity and fun.

To be fair, we can’t be 100% sure the context was (solely) expletive. Maybe the monk was just sharing some monastery gossip!

It’ll be nice to see Lee Pace in a role where he’s (presumably) not a villain, feels like it’s been a while. (Though, I re-watched Pushing Daisies recently, and the piemaker is about 10% more asshole than I remembered)

And technically, a lightsaber cauterizes the wound, so you’re not going to bleed out. If it misses everything vital and you don’t get an infection, a lightsaber to the torso does seem potentially survive-able. As for getting chopped in half, yeah, I got nothing. Something something speed-force (oops wrong universe).

I saw leaving her alive as an extension of Vader’s comment that she’s simply not a threat and even having her around got boring. Maybe he’s so powerful and bored that the 2% chance she’ll survive and do something interesting is how he keeps himself entertained.

I mean, judgment calls on quality are kind of the whole point of critiques? I’m not sure how much difference it would make to add “subjectively, I feel...” in front of every thought. This review conveys (the reviewer’s opinion) that the film had some great moments and ideas, but some structural and pacing issues.

Agreed. Between 15 years of KDramas and now Netflix and Disney I’ve watched (single-season) shows shrink from 24 ->20 ->16 ->12->10->6, and IMO the 12 to 16 episode series have the best pacing. Anything shorter just plays like a really long movie, anything longer tends to drag in the middle.

The flip side is also true - Netflix is becoming an increasingly reliable source for U.S. subscribers to find non-U.S. shows. Two years ago I was just about ready to cancel, and then they started really upping their K-Drama game in particular.

Well, in a movie about gay people trying to get it on, I’d guess that any two women sharing the screen are unlikely to be talking about men. So, technically it probably does pass the Bechdel test?

Ooh, fun, lets come up with what jobs they would be! I feel like Jane’s ‘Bingley’ career choice would be ‘Art teacher at a nice prep school,’ with Lizzie bugging her to try to make it as an artist instead.

I think that applies to the movie as a whole, as well - for being so ‘noir’ it had an underlying sense of fun, like everyone was enjoying coming up with as many ways as they could to turn the noir-dial up to 11.

Agreed on the fight scenes being memorable in the Batman context. (For me its the fact that he could actually move well, it made him seem like an actual threat).

Not even “thumb...drive”?

I would say *ahem, Farscape,* but it was always admittedly more of a cult classic than a big hit.

Re Marc getting into ‘heaven,’ I interpreted it as Marc (via Steven) finally accepting his ‘good’ side back into himself, and forgiving himself for his brother.
