I can’t wait for the scene when Edge hits on his pedal echo effect and they all share a LOOK and he doesn’t have to think up new guitar ideas for a good decade.

Will Smith saying “I think I deserve more time than everyone else” definitely does perfectly embody both these kinds of awards shows, and him personally.

This was a good show and I’m crying about the lost opportunity of Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer meeting Monkey Judge in a very special crossover event.

It’s different for Americans, who only ever had Oasis as another indie band on the circuit.

In the UK they represented the moment when the school bullies got into indie music. Imagine tens of thousands of fucking thugs braying “Don’t Look Back In Anger” and walking into you with their pint so it will spill and they can

I’m a Bunnyfan through and through.

DeFreitas/Pattinson? You know your rhythm sections. Chapeau.

Once again, Roger Corman and his talent incubator.

Girl becomes a production designer and producer, helps make some of the best movies of the 70's, 80's and 90's, discovers Wes Anderson and helps make sure Bottle Rocket gets made. Dies at 72 in 2011.

Macbeth: I bear a charmed life, which must not yield to one of woman born.

Fucking seriously? Ringling Brothers Parade Film (1902)? Everyone knows that series went to crap after Ringling Brothers Big Top Moving Picture (1899).

I don’t need some nerdy librarians to tell me that Jedi and Fellowship fucking rule. But it helps. Good to see Stop Making Sense on there as well.

But then Disqus got rid of channels, so the people behind that started The Popculturists so we could have the same Disqus threads. Apparently there’s a rival AVC diaspora site which tries to continue other regular

The Strokes and White Stripes. I don’t mean to call the music dated. Just that the look and sound were very original and impactful for the moment.

Bob Dylan’s album, “Love and Theft.” I’m in New York City, and on the morning of 9-11, I was planning to walk to Tower Records and purchase it. It was being released that day. I...um...ended up not doing that. (I bought it a few days later, and it helped me through some very emotional times.)

Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen was another fan of his radio show, though he soured on Shepherd later:

The director agreeing to helm Porky’s II in exchange for getting to make A Christmas Story is the greatest “one for them, one for me” in the history of Hollywood.

Hollywood ruined him (and he probably knew it would). The Carnival is probably ‘Hollywood’ here.

Tyrone Power gets underestimated imo because of matinee idol good looks, but he’s great at playing sociopathic types in this movie and films like Johnny Apollo and Witness for the Prosecution. He was also great in swashbucklers like Black Swan and The Mark of Zorro.

It'll be interesting. The original was wildly cynical, especially about psychiatry.

I think pop-grungy, solo female singer/songwriters are just kind of “in” right now is all. That’s not a slight on them, I like every one of them I can think of, but they are there on the fringes of the mainstream.

Like, I don’t expect Special Interest to be hosting SNL and doing Cosmopolitan photoshoots any time soon,
