Sounds like “can’t make movies with all black casts because they won’t be profitable” is morphing into “can’t make black movies because they take up all the oxygen, other movies can’t compete”.

The writer’s problem is with Black excellence. If he were a sportswriter, he’d be lamenting that Lebron James is putting Bosnian ballers out of business.

Deadpool was the financial winner of the entire year of super hero films because even though it not only topped BvS on domestic sales, it was also done on a meager budget of $50 mil, while similar genre movies usually cost $200 mil to produce.

And if there’s one thing film critics have lamented, it’s too-few video game movies. When will they finally get a shot?

“Ready Player One” looks terrible in the same vein as “Blade Runner 2049". I’m not interested in another whitewashed future dystopia. RPO is more of the same sh!t about how only cisgender White males can own fandom, and I hope it flops hard.

Hollywood hates New that doesn’t involve their typical cast of characters (the dead black man (aka canon fodder), the magical negro, the femme fatale (colour seems to be optional here), the white badass doesn’t need any male female (new to the stage), the white (fe)male savior, and the high IQ white kid…

But we knew this was coming, didn’t we? Every time there’s black success, there’s white backlash. It’s part of America’s racial history & tradition, almost a ritual.. there’s gonna be more.

I read Mendelson’s article this morning while sitting on the can. It felt like a perfectly appropriate location for such a shitty “analysis.”

White people get extremely butt hurt over anything that does not center whiteness especially if it is successful. What is the cause of this hysterical group think? What I’m essentially getting from his take is that Hollywood for decades have been typecasting and regulating black actors to secondary and tertiary roles because they were afraid whites couldn’t measure up.
