Doom Patrol

I never thought I’d say this but God Emperor is such an insane book that I’d be fine with letting David Lynch just go nuts with it.

DC has over the last few years, made an effort to turn some of their sillier characters into something you can take seriously - Young Justice did it with Sports Master, Harley Quinn did it with Kite Man and The Suicide Squad did it with Polka Dot Man.

That’s the same vibe I got and I was happy with that portrayal.

Jason Momoa has a few quips but by and large the movie is very serious.  If you’re looking for a Marvel style snarkfest, this isn’t the movie for you.

Based on what I’ve read, they’re definitely not looking for Black Panther box office (1.3 billion off a 200 million dollar budget). More like Shang Chi (400 million on a 150-200 million dollar budget). Presumably they’re also taking the effect that streaming will have on its performance. It’s done well internationally
