No Hay Banda

Now playing

He tends to mix genres but yes, he’s primarily a jazz player.

I’m kind of surprised to see a musician of Jacob Collier’s caliber nominated for a major mainstream Grammy category.  Dude has serious chops.

I don’t think I’ve talked to another Whovian who doesn’t feel the same.  I know RTD was being cheeky but it’s really the only explanation that makes sense.

Near as I can tell Jack is about 2100 years old which would make him roughly the same age as the Doctor.

The chess scenes get better as she starts improving and playing better players. Most of the games portrayed were based on actual games played over the last several decades. They make a few mistakes here and there but that is probably because the actors weren’t chess players and had only a few minutes to memorize the

I just wanted one more scene at the end and I would have been as satisfied as I could have been with the ending (without having to rewrite the whole thing): Rey sitting on the desert sand, meditating peacefully, talking about the nature of the Force. Camera pulls back - Finn meditates next to her, listening quietly.

That sounds about right.  I haven’t looked into it in depth but it was covered briefly in a documentary I saw.

The first season is I think the best. It is all classic urban legend/horror tropes structured in a “monster of the week” format with an narrative arc developing very slowly until it picks up towards the end of the season (somewhat like Babylon 5, the first 5 seasons were sketched out beforehand but that only becomes

More opportunistic than smart. He’s been in the right place at the right time on more than one occasion.

Huh.  Why am I grey?

That is a Thor’s hammer. It’s a symbol common to Asatru which is a Norse flavor of neopaganism. Though Asatru and the symbol are not inherently political, there is a hardcore right wing racist variety of Asatru (incorporating a lot of the more esoteric Nazi ideology) which is pretty popular among Trumpers.

Matt Frewer’s performance was one of the few high points of the miniseries.  I’m not sure anyone they cast would be able to match it so this is fine.

A few more minutes alone with Rudy G and it would have been.  That shit was skeevy.
