Previously I was impressed with the casting of the two leads (in fact last time I reread the book a few years ago, I saw Michael Sheen and James McAvoy in my head.  McAvoy’s probably a bit too pricey now so Tennant’s a good alternative), but McKean’s Shadwell might be the best casting of the series.
