Lovecraft’s racism was extreme even for his time. He hated other white people if they didn’t come from a specific area of England. He once wrote a poem called “On the Creation of the N****r”. He married a Ukranian Jewish woman because she assimilated well (and when he got angry he would assail her with unhinged

Just keep him supplied with a fresh bag of coke every day and he’s fine.

I didn’t particularly like the film (I could imagine the script had sections that just said “(Camera cuts to Kate doing something funny)“) but it did become a terrible flashpoint for a lot of MRA “thinkpieces”. And there is at least one youtube video out there that literally addresses the idea that women cannot be

We sort of have that and its fandom has its own issues (and I realize as I type this that I am indeed wearing a Rick and Morty t-shirt)

Even though he came around to his “realization” in the end, Holt’s dismissal of the 99's overcrowding issue seemed out of character for him - being detail oriented is one of the fundamental aspects of the character. It’s the one major issue I had with this episode.

Probably the most positive review of the film I’ve read thusfar which makes me wonder if too many critics were expecting a return to “golden age” M Night (if 3 movies can be considered an “age”) and were let down by their own expectations.
