Takashi Miike’s Audition falls into that category for me. I went into it completely blind. The person who recommended it refused to tell me anything about it. For about 30 minutes I was watching a fairly benign if slightly skeevy romantic drama. Then I saw the bag move.
I absolutely loved Lungs for its variety and unwillingness to be constrained by genre but every thing I’ve heard since their first album has sounded the same to me.
