Did I ever say I hated the movie? I didn't. I loved it. It was a great experience. I laughed when I was supposed to laugh, I cheered when I was supposed to cheer (not literally), I cried when I was supposed to cry. But just because I enjoyed the experience doesn't mean the plot holds up to deep scrutiny.

Okay, so why doesn't Marcus just send the Dreadnought to Kronos? It's clearly ready for action. But instead of sending that ship, he sends James T Kirk, literally the worst commander in Starfleet when it comes to following orders, on a mission that requires him to explicitly follow Marcus's orders to torpedo Kronos

    Okay, I'll bite.

Not only is the audience less likely to have cable, but people who do have it aren't likely to peruse these types of articles.

Seriously. The address appears to be some dude's house in California. The phone number only links back to this website. The website is registered anonymously through GoDaddy. Best case is the service works as intended but eventually gets overwhelmed if it becomes popular. Worst case, it's a scam. Other worst

    Where: Wichita, KS

Salt is a natural food, yet Paleo bans it. Salt is one of the oldest foodstuffs we know of. The oldest town in Europe was built around a salt processing facility. Potatoes were first domesticated about 13000 years ago, but they were wildly available long before that.

I don't know about that. The big push for margarine came from the FDA because, at the time, everybody thought that animal fats caused heart disease. So margarine became the big thing instead of butter. No everybody realizes that saturated fats are the problem (or is it unsaturated fats) and that the trans fats in

And the only reason I know that is because I've been sitting on this link forever wanting to do this but not having my own place to do it in. Now that I do, I might just get around to making this happen.

    Lifehacker did it!

Well, Bored to Death was an HBO show, so anybody who watched it legally online was an HBO subscriber and was thus recorded by HBO. Those who watched it online illegally, well they're not getting counted in this anyway.

The biggest advantage to the Nielsen system is that they use a clicker system. Each member of the household has a clicker that they use to record their viewing. So Nielsen not only knows what is airing, but who is watching (a critical feature for demographic data). The clicker is also required to be pressed

Sorry I wasn't clear. This is a separate tax from the home property taxes. This tax is paid each year when you renew your registration. So if you don't have a car, you wouldn't be auto taxes, but you'd still have property taxes if you have a house.

Because it's worth more. At least in my state, we pay annual taxes on vehicles and the property tax is based on the value of the car, so a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, is taxed more than a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 2008 Lincoln Navigator is taxed way more than either.

An important thing to remember that many people forget is the added cost of insurance and taxes for a new car. My 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix is currently costing me about $30/month for liability only insurance and $24/yr in property taxes. If I upgraded to a 2008 model, I'd be spending $150/yr in property taxes and

All because we didn't know where the Mississippi River came from.

As I mentioned below, this is not a new tax. This law merely authorizes states to collect use taxes from businesses as opposed to consumers. No new taxes are being created, merely old taxes being enforced. And this is only "leveling the playing field" in the sense that it allows states to properly enforce their tax

I can't say for every state, but Illinois conducted a study in 2011 and found that they lost $152 million from consumers and businesses failing to pay use taxes on internet purchases. The projected loss for 2013 is $212 million.

There is so much misinformation in this article.

That's the thing, though. There's actually some pretty decent science-fiction on cable right now. Orphan Black is only a couple of episodes in, but it seems promising. Continuum will be back this spring/summer. Being Human's had a pretty good year. Defiance sounds intriguing, though the whole video game angle is
