I’m not sure I’m buying into the “aw, he didn’t deserve to die” message here. He went north of 100 mph, blew red lights, broke myriad laws. As the yoots say, FAFO.

Police chases are a massive risk to the public, a big waste of resources, and frequently a needless escalation of minor crimes. When we switched from giant gas sucking cars to smaller fuel efficient cars back in the 70-80s they were not MORE expensive, larger, and luxurious than the big gas hogs. They were smaller and cheaper. Something similar needs to happen with EVs.

So many problems with this.

EV cost is certainly a deterrent for many drivers. But lack of range must be a huge barrier for the highest mileage drivers, many of whom presumably are doing long trips in areas without good charging infrastructure (as opposed to huge miles in cities like taxis or delivery vehicles).
