Your entire reply is mealy mouthed and suspect. It is literally the lowest effort to not play a thing. There are plenty of other things to play. And your complaint about not being able call out marginalized groups, oof. you are just aching to use some slurs aren’t you? You are giving big “if you aren’t nice to me I won

This VTuber retiring didn’t make any of these people this violently transphobic. They just wanted an excuse to let that demon out. The demon was there already.

Yah honestly I don't get the hand-wringing from ppl who really want to think of themselves as supportive allies but apparently the thought of not playing the mediocre wizard game and giving JK rowling more attention and money is just too much to bear for them. Play the game if you want but ppl have a right to be

It does make you an excuser of transphobia and a piece of shit.

And then they wonder why they're so much poorer and why every platform is banning, sorry "cancelling", them. It's just bizarre. If I got a fraction of the fame and financial success these idiots got I'd care more about maintaining it than being a shithead in public.

Did I say that? No, Skyrim your Hogwarts if you want. But when you need to make public excuses as to why you should be *allowed* to play Harry Potter? Might as well buy a billboard that says you have thin skin and loose morals, and those are the types that fall for the siren’s song of the alt-right. But hey, glad I

Moist/Penguinz has been covering this guy for a bit now, and holy shit, what a subhuman. I mean, damn, he’s unhinged, and he’s probably going to end up hurting himself or someone else. At minimum he needs to no longer have a platform he can “perform” on, Kick needs to held accountable, it can’t just be known as the

On one hand, you have a group of people who have no political power and are being systematically oppressed by a large political bloc that wants them to not exist. On the other hand, you have a billionaire who uses the popularity of her franchise as justification for supporting that oppression.

people crying cause they got called out for being bigots isn’t oppression

why you need to tell us you love giving money to transphobes and anti-Semites? just play the game quietly if you don’t want to be criticized for having zero ethics or values

I get it, you want to play the wizard game and not feel like a shitty person for doing so. Keep lying to yourself.

The head developer of the game, Troy Leavitt, is a virulent racist, anti-Semite, transphobe and gamergater. The fact the plotline of the game is a race of money-hungry crook nosed bankers who need the blood of children is not a coincidence

the developers of the game obviously don’t share her views

You don’t support the devs of an AAA  game by buying a copy- those people are salaried workers who already got paid and many of them will already be laid off by the time the game ships.  The people who benefit from “buying a game versus not” are the executives and the publisher.

Straight white males....the most oppressed group in history.  Their masculinity and whiteness under threat.  Least they now have a game they can rally behind...about a diverse (at least superficially) case of adolescent wizards and witches in a fictional world.  Seriously...the alt right and its incel and male rights

To be completely fair to Kotaku. Exceeded my expectations. Thus far, every article they’ve made have been *just* about how shitty people are using the game as a spring board to be shitty. While that part was expected, I had *also* expected them to throw in the usual “Here’s X Guide”.

For those who wish to play the game without enriching Rowling: buy a physical used copy from a non-professional reseller (or an independent game store who deserves your money). EA/Rowling see not dime one from such a purchase. Even better, if your local library has games to borrow, borrow the game from there. In both
