Trainwreck “analogy” (oy), spilled milk referenced twice in the bottom two paragraphs, the return of the pejoratives “nerd” and “goober” (yes, one should imagine Posehn’s voice on the latter), Comey’s distance from the ground (6'8"!) checked off more than once, and this question-mark-free nugget: “If he were a

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one confounded by that line. Then there’s this one:

Unlike some OTHER Stranger Things actors, Cary Elwes can speak with an English Accent.

I see what you did here.

Shasta McNasty was the greatest TV series ever, yo.

Who are you again?

It’s interesting that the only thing Kondabalou wants changed about Apu is...he should be more upwardly mobile. Like if he owned *multiple* Kwik-E-Marts, instead of just one, then he wouldn’t be racist. So, let’s definitely change a beloved, iconic character to fit the personal preferences of this guy who made a

Apu doesn’t “offend” me, he “insults” me…and my community. I’m an adult with bigger things to deal with. My film was meant to tell you to go fuck yourself & discuss why I want you to go fuck yourself & how we can prevent future incidents of people wishing others “self-fuckery.”

I loved that they had Aaron Paul voice the gamerbro douchebag.

Anyone who is genuinely perplexed about the ethics of forcing people who looked at child porn into a gladatorial death match is a terrifyingly inept moral agent. If you even have to ponder for a second whether this was justified then look no further for the object of this episode's criticism: it's you.

The point is that these people are not monsters (excluding kenny's death fight adversary, because he might actually be a child rapist). Cheating on your wife, making racist remarks, and yes even looking at child porn does not make you some irredeemable monster. These are human beings who love their kids with all their

Pointing out stuff like that is fine (like, pointing out that the amount of time that Luke spends training on Dagobah is way longer than the amount of time the others spend getting to Bespin and having lunch). It's when people adopt this attitude of, "Hey, this was bad, because look at this hole in the plot I found!

Yeah, that's a good point. I admit I was just groping for examples of the specific way people bitch about Black Mirror.

Respectfully, I'm getting tired of people finding the tiny little holes in the Black Mirror premises. It's possible with each one, and it happens with each one: Brooker et al. create a concept that blocks out 95% of the rain — extremely difficult and unusual for sci-fi, particularly with this kind of short-form

There's no reason to fit them together, and nothing to be gained by fitting them together…and they don't fit togther. It's a waste of time; it defeats the whole purpose of Black Mirror. The cross-references are just a game.

It's people not understanding Easter Eggs.

It my win from the season, if it helps any. I have a long-standing respect for Zack but on that episode we definitely disagree.

Because Handlen can't see "the point" (as I mention in my comment above) — he's one of those people for whom discerning and absorbing "the point" is the only reason to experience fiction (particularly speculative fiction). The nihilistic ending of that episode especially bothered him.

I wrote some of this below, but I want to reiterate it: how come the review totally ignores the incredible skill with which the episode creates that “five minutes into the future” vibe?

I think that's the point
