I see what you’re saying, I don’t like the idea of my kids being subjected to toys ads either, but at least that is a known quantity.

This article has me definitely rethinking letting our child anywhere near YouTube. We started off saying we wouldn’t let her watch anything, but of course, we were tired one day and sometimes you need a just a moment to get the dishes done. We have always tried to be in the room and watching but these videos do come…
A good list, but I would add “The Raft” from Creepshow 2. I don’t remember any other part of that movie, but I was freaked out the first time I saw it. I know it may not be as iconic as some of the other items on this list, but gosh, the images of the black goo slowly killing off those swimmers still stick with me…
If you decide to wear a Sox cap, know that you may be expected to know something about the team, being asked by strangers about your take on the new manager or by how much they will beat the Yankees this next year.
So the travel hacks for Boston article is happening during “Evil Week” at Lifehacker...
I think this is an issue of what is actually meant by “culture”. To be fair, it is a bit of a made-up concept. Culture is very amorphous and despite being used collectively, it is often a very personal thing. What I perceive to be my culture to be is very much affected by who I am, including my skin color. If you were…
While I think it would be great if they did hire a “Sub-Saharan African”, the point is that having anyone with a different background from the white (male?) design team would have been an improvement. A guy “outta Compton” (and you do see how problematic it is that you use that as your example for a black American,…
Um, yes, the color of your skin absolutely dictates your culture. How you are viewed, how you are forced to see the world yourself, how you see your own family being treated in your society. All this has a role to play. There may be some aspects of culture that are not dictated by one’s outward appearance, at least in…
Missed it at first but now I cannot unsee it. Thank you?
Honestly, the thing that has worked for me is to make sure I look it up on my calorie tracker *before* I actually take it from the tray. Seeing how many calories are actually in that donut is helpful, and if I do end up eating it, I know I need to make sure I don’t have a big lunch/dinner later on.
I used to live a block away from there. Always wondered who put it up and what it was called.
Holy #(&#*. I honestly had not heard of any of these save the Philly bombing. I know there are dark chapters in our history, but this needs to be talked about more. Thanks for highlighting it.
I’ve been sitting on old Magic cards (probably worth not much, but something), and comic books (probably worth nothing). It is high time I got rid of them.
I don’t like this review...It has me intrigued and is close to convincing me that another paid subscription is worth it.
I got an SNES Classic so I will be playing that almost exclusively. I loved Starfox when I was a kid and was really disappointed when the sequel got cancelled (I even remember the old previews in EGM (or was it NP?)). I also have, amazingly never played Earthbound. I hear people like it. Mostly, I’m sure I will spend…
I got one a few weeks ago and love it. Seriously does a good job mopping up the kitchen - tough spots will still need elbow grease, but the floor overall will look good.

Those are all great resources. I would also add trying a local university with a psychology program. Those students are usually pretty good (and are closely supervised) and you can get therapy for a fraction of the cost. This saved me when I was a poor grad student.
I know that place and it wouldn’t be too bad (not as good as the waterfront, though). Frankly if they are putting up the financing and the college agrees, the Mayor should let them and rub this deal in the face of LA and every other city that has been held hostage for a stupid stadium deal.
I got one later on (and paid a lot for an additional tetris light, thanks ThinkGeek). I don’t get to play it often (kids), but when I can squeeze in 20-30 minutes it’s pretty cool. I especially love the save state feature that lets me pick up games where I left off.
A meaningless game in September that goes till after 2AM? This is why I come to Deadspin!
