Thanks, Tick. Thick.
Thanks, Tick. Thick.
I'm not contesting their dumbness - I'm just saying that they lack anything else in the Return right now.
They feel very flanderized in the Return. They were silly and dumb in the original series too, but their usefulness was consistently shown throughout. So far in this they haven't really done anything, which makes them seem like cartoons.
1) Hot Fuzz
2) Shaun of the Dead
3) Baby Driver
4) World's End
5) Scott Pilgrim
I don't really get the criticism of Elgort - he's great, and he sells the core of living on music really well.
That's tough to answer. There's some quick cuts but they tend to be on the music like everything else. Mostly it's fairly extended scenes though, including some very long take chases and such. Probably not as much as the Jason Bourne movies.
You can't expect me to read the things I reply to!
Imagine a half-Vulcan, half-Klingon character. Now THAT would be a conflict of interest.
It's no real excuse, but as this is pretty much a reboot of the series rather than a continuation, they mostly seem to want to keep to the familiar and what the broad general public knows. That's Vulcans, Klingons, and their issues.
He's probably the standout performance in this movie. He's really good in it.
We effectively hear the movie through Baby's ears, and yes, that does happen. One other nice touch is that whenever people take an earbud out of one of Baby's ears, the music only comes from that side of the screen.
I was lucky enough to see this at a preview screening this last Saturday, and it was pretty amazing. I'm a huge Wright fan anyway, and this didn't disappoint.
And hello to Jason Isaacs!
So is that how Cole lost his hearing?
The Schrodinger's thing was in the back of my mind during that scene, so I loved it. I think this season had a lot of problems, but the Gloria/Varga thing wasn't one of them. One thing that will always sting a bit about season one is that Molly and Malvo never got a showdown together, because they were antitheses of…
Nikki, it was part of their plan.
One of the best comments here quite early on in the season mentioned that there are a lot of things this season that play like Schrodinger's cat. It ended up being the most important concept of the season.
You're totally right. Yes, Fargo the movie and other series have been cruel to people, but here it seems that they forgot to offset that cruelty with humanity. In previous seasons you had your Lou and your Molly and such and they'd be a much bigger part of the season. Gloria here mostly takes the backseat.
It's used as a character beat in a very nice way.
Someone stop them!
