Three or four high schools in my county are 7-12th grade. My kid was 12 his whole 7th grade year. I was so thankful he didn't go to one of those huge "Secondary Schools," as they are called here.

Aaaah, yes. Penn STat

I can't blame the other kids. They were likely very scared. Besides, when it first started, someone apparently did tell an adult, who did so little that the 16-year-old was raped anyway.

Mean “kids,” I think. Bullying is practiced by girls and boys, unfortunately.

I'm so sorry. You did not deserve any of that.

Well, the article said that in one case the adult was told, and he brought the kid up to sit by him (CALL THE FUCKING COPS, ASSHOLE) and the attackers coerced the kid to come back and sit with them. Which he did. And the attack resumed. While the adult failed to notice the victim was no longer sitting near him?

But when the initial attack of the 16 year old was brought to the attention of the adult on the bus, that adult should have called the police immediately.

He could be a 7th grader? Maybe in a "Secondary School," with 7-12th graders? Depressing.

School is supposed to be safe! When my son was followed home from school by an employee and asked if he “needed a ride,” I lost my shit. This was the kid who had already been victimized when he was younger. We called the fucking cops.

No. Not crazy, unless immediately picturing the calm, badass demeanor of Joe Kenda is also crazy. Then count me in.

“inappropriate behavior displayed by several students.”

Because students are not adults. They may have been afraid. That's some pretty vicious stuff to watch. And likely they didn't know what to do. Maybe one of them alerted the adult?

You're absolutely right. All "field" trips are supposed to have chaperones. At least in rational school districts. Good god.

Not buying it. After observing this, that adult's SOLE responsibility was keeping that kid, and other potential victims, safe.

I'm a parent whose kid WAS a victim (not of something this horrific, but a victim of sexual abuse), and this is making me want to throw up. For real.

You can't actually see a breast when it's covered by a baby's head. You do know that, right? And any glimpses of nipple you might catch would likely be because you were staring.

They belong in the workplace in the U.S. in an emergency, damn skippy they do. Or we deserve paid family leave. You pick.

Did she lick you? Drink from your coffee cup? Spit all over you? Cough or sneeze at you?

I fear your last guess. I really do. I have no reason to believe that men in power actually care about prosecuting men for sexual assault.

Sigh.
