I could see they were going for a different feel right from the start when they didn’t do the bombastic war narration introduction.

I wouldn’t consider it off track. It’s very reminiscent of the scene where Anakin waits in the council chambers. Essentially the beginning of the episode happens all in that afternoon/evening so makes sense it would have that same sense of foreboding and dread.
The score had a very Vangelis feel to it for sure. Holding such a sustained note of contemplation/tension is for sure the strongest move this episode employed.
He’d be proud.
Anyone else get Blade Runner vibes from the first half of the episode? From the lighting to the score to the limited dialogue, it really helped build the tension. If this is truly supposed to be watched as a single movie, I feel like it got off track for the first half of this episode. If not, it was an excellent…
Had to pop back in because I’m rewatching and during the opening battle between the Republic and the Droid Army I’m pretty sure it’s the same exact score from the Sarlacc pit scene in Return of the Jedi. Not 100% sure, but like 97%. It’s definitely a John Williams movie score.
Yes, yes I am.
Grevious is there to kidnap Palpatine, the beginning to RoTS.
Also Kanan cameo during the newsreel!
Just, wow. Sorry for the length, but I’m posting my real-time notes that I took while watching because this is the only community I know that might actually care:
Hmm, wonder how Bo-Katan’s first draft went? “Yo, sanctimonious hypocrites, in case you hadn’t noticed there’s half an ex-sith lord ruling a planet of some of the best warriors in the galaxy. Considering you’ve got literal legions at your beck and call and there’s about six of these dicks in the galaxy who happen to be…
These final four episodes have a good shot of being better than The Mandalorian. This is not hyperbole, that first episode really is that effing good.
So the finale will really tell us how ‘Star Trek’ the series was I feel.
I definitely see Picard telling Seven “that’s all on you now” (in regards to saving the galaxy) as a major hint that her spinoff is coming.
Former store owner here: Yes, stores have to buy the books for FCBD. But they are usually at a very reduced price vs normal issues and the foot traffic stores get makes it a palatable trade off given all the press the event gets. Admittedly, if stores could get the books for free would be even better. But not all…
Whoops, spoke too soon, they cancelled it and are rescheduling FCBD for the summer.
I think you forgot one of the more interesting things that Diamond announced today: that they are changing Free Comic Book Day to Free Comic Book May, making sure that instead of only one day of free comics, it’s the entire month, with comic shops getting weekly shipments of free comics:
You leave Jeffrey’s vegan brother out of this.
have you ever seen a “Scarface” poster?
I don’t understand why anyone would be attracted to this branding. Pablo Escobar was a murderous narcoterrorist. He wasn’t some latter day Robin Hood (who probably was a murderous thief, if he existed).
