I am 100% there with you - I was citing someone else’s rape-apologist reasoning. There’s an insane amount of mental gymnastics going on surrounding this case and it’s horrifying.

also, they do hear the no, they just don’t care about the other person to not violate them in getting what they want—or, even worse but not uncommon, they are actually turned on by the no and the resistance, because it makes them feel more powerful than their victim.

i don’t think showing young men who might be capable of rape how unlikely it is that they would ever be convicted, and if convicted would get a slap-on-the-wrist sentence, if they were to commit a sexual assault. what we need to do is reform the criminal justice system so that it’s not so easy to rape and get away…

it shouldn’t just be a statutory rape charge though, as the judge admitted that he believed the girl that it was non-consensual. non-consensual sex is rape, not statutory rape.

Also, anyone who thinks someone would go through the investigation, trial, public scrutiny, everything associated with pressing charges because of regret or revenge or for funsies is fucking crazy.
