I'm going to be charitable and assume Jennifer's completely monotone delivery was a conscious choice the actress made after realizing that years of living with a manic Avery Brooks would probably, in fact, drive you into near-catatonia.

It is sort of mystifying, isn't it? The casting people really nailed it on most of the recurring players—Andrew Robinson, Marc Alaimo, Louise Fletcher, etc.—but random handsome (randsome?) white man of the week was always a weak spot.  It's a shame they didn't just use the same actor for each role, sort of like Rachel

It really is a shame they blew their, uh, i mean, used the "love potion" conceit before Leeta's breasts became recurring characters. Or Kasidy for that matter.  I mean, someone really needed to have a latent attraction to Quark. How much would that have bugged Sisko?

It's definitely worth watching, if only for the Sisko eye-roll when a certain Bajoran tries to fight him.
