The more I think about it, the more ridiculous the character of Freddy is. He's a killer with a heart of gold. He wants to help Naz because he senses his innocence, so he uses him as a drug mile and as an accomplice to a murder. He's a heroin addict who is also pretty much running everything inside his little Rikers…

I'm OK with that in that Naz felt like he owes his life to Freddy and would have gotten killed in there without him. It also shows how jail can turn otherwise clean people into criminals.
