Then there’s this.
Then there’s this.
I love 944s and dailed one for 10 years, but understand that some are pretty minor on maintenance, some are horrific. Mine was horrific as it turned out. The belts, touched on by Stef, need replaced every 30k and the adjustment checked every 15 (and 1.5-2 after replacement). Without running through every possibility…
I’m just gonna go out on a limb here (I suppose it is possible they use these dogs for something else) and say what we have here is 12 more victims of the drug war.
I see now I should’ve loaded more replies before commenting (obviously, agreed with those pointing out similarly), but I’ll leave this here anyway - lots of Jalops think they’re smart but are really just children with keyboards.
Lots of smartasses here but all joking (or joke failures) aside, it’s pretty bad when a car changes its behavior during extreme maneuvers. Snap oversteer when something breaks? Kudos to Porsche for being proactive and admitting the problem (not that they have a perfect record in this regard...).
This is gonna shut down YouTube
I don’t normally use the phrase “sick burn.” COTD.
“So who gets the deer - me or the dog?”
Several have mentioned this is on purpose. Interestingly, my 944 (‘88) had the same size mirrors, but they were angled differently. I didn’t know this for years, saw the car from above and thought one had been knocked into - nope. The passenger mirror also was not concave, not sure if this was stock or not, but it…
Oh and “if the dog was immediate danger” [sic] - so... you admit it actually wasn’t?
So the dog might have warmed up slightly, and you got all in a lather and called 911 and everything else, all to have the guy come out within some unspecified period of time but one that would likely be ridiculous if mentioned (or else why isn’t it)? Another 25 seconds and you would’ve Dog Rescued?
“What could possibly…
That was uncalled for. You get a star.
“the driver managed to avoid oncoming traffic”
I’d probably phrase this differently, there was no driver managing anything going on here
Um maybe not “VW’d” but Chrysler totally neutered the design of this car...cf Cizeta Moroder
Um...why the fuck was this shared to Jalopnik? JHMFC.
See Dick. See Dick comment. Comment, Dick, comment.
“CAN-AM” by Pete Lyons and “Porsche 917: The Winning Formula” by Peter Morgan are both excellent. I own both and periodically reread them; they are so fascinating. Oh, and “The Unfair Advantage” by Donohue is a must-read.
What does the “STRAT” button on the steering wheel do? Make Hendrix playing “Ride of the Valkyries” blare as it rips down the straight?
Addendum: Yes this means everyone needs to figure out how to do this better/correctly, not be on devices or ‘ludes for that matter, etc etc. Then the practice could better match theory....
