Yeah I’m rather surprised Jalopnik hasn’t published (to my knowledge) info on these 2017 changes. C/D has had it up for awhile....

I test drove both and my main issue (other than less involvement) with DSG was it needs a mode in between regular and sport, or regular should just be more responsive. It did seem to creep just fine but its behavior in regular traffic was just too vague (or too snappy in sport mode).
You want the GTI. PP + DCC minimum. I can’t shut up to anyone about this. Trust me. (As for 6M vs DSG, your call. I drove both and while the DSG is objectively preferable from a performance standpoint, I just couldn’t do an automatic in this car.)
I’m a little late to the party since I’ve been away a couple days but a couple things -
- Soundacktor sucks - you can get your dealer (or use tool yourself if you have it) to turn it all the way off. SOOOO much better hearing all the little noises the car makes on its own.
- DCC is worth it no matter what people without…
The fact that a silver interior was an option isn’t so much an indictment of the era as an indictment of the mentality of Corvette people of all eras.
I’d managed to forget about that. WOW.
“Also in places like TX etc there is little forestation and chances for wildlife to unexpectedly appear.”
You haven’t a) driven in TX b) heard of Texas Speed Bumps or of course the dreaded Jackelope have you?
Good grief...I haven’t really paid these a lot of attention - drivers of these have to look at that dash all the time? Blech
“Not to diminish your loss, but”
Right. Stop right there.
This wins COTD, right?
I haven’t experienced that specific loss, but I have experienced tragic, personal loss. Who hasn’t other than those young and fortunate not to have? There are rational, healthy ways to deal with loss, trauma, death, etc - and there are irrational, unhealthy ways - and unfortunately, these latter ultimately exacerbate…
This kind of stuff has come up with special-edition Porsches as well - to a certain degree the exclusivity was part of the promise that merited a certain purchase price. So those that plunked down are a little screwed if production ends up higher....
“has collected about 40 of them over recent years as a way to cope with the death of her son”
Maybe it’s just me, but this sounds like an absurd way of “coping.” Might as well go all the way:
You’re an idiot.
Nothing says “Competent Driver” like “snow tank slit.”
“So the next time you’re moving or transporting something that needs to be tied to your car, tie it down well. Too many people are too flippant about securing their stuff, and it’s putting everyone else at risk.”
This includes clearing snow/ice.
Flaming supercars are so hot right now.
What the hell? Zipper merge is absolutely correct. Just because no-one knows how to get it right doesn’t mean we should all keep suffering. Education sounds like the right approach, no?
Jalopnik has been really going downhill lately....
SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE
My favorite is the above but with a back protector strapped on. Like road rash is no big deal* but they don’t want to be Really Fucked.
