“Shoryuken!” aka “Giant stick in the mud!” aka “Giant stick up...”
Oh I forgot one thing - when doing the qualifying laps, when I came in I somehow hit the (5 or at least 4 way, I don’t recall) seat belt buckle and undid it. I couldn’t get it refastened, and was like FUCK there is no fucking way.... So I didn’t say a god damn thing because I knew I’d just be pulled aside, and raced…
This is totally hilarious, one of the best COTDs ever. Since others are jumping in with go-kart stories -
I once did a work outing where we went to a fairly serious indoor kart track. Not shifters but still pretty fast, but on a tight course. Being one of the only actual drivers I got pole and in the race soon was…
Your screen name sounds like a crumpet salesman with a mouthful of samples
Initially I thought this was pretty cool, but after watching the video again and further reflection, this guy…does not ride like I ride. I generally try to stay in charge of the situation – usually by going a little faster than traffic. Certainly by getting in front of obstacles like trucks (not only do they tend to…
“We can’t ignore the human element either, here. It’s likely that the driver was not paying attention to the road prior to the accident.”
To put it mildly. Not seeing the trailer due to color/sky conditions - almost not possible if person actually looking at it. Not seeing a semi rig, anticipating its actions, and…
Public beta on a life-critical system - I’m pretty sure this is the first instance I’ve heard of that. If so I’d think this will get interesting in terms of legal precedents.
That said, I can’t imagine trusting these systems - beta or not - so completely. In the end, unfortunately, the guy failed to see a semi. A semi.
I can’t read all the comments right now (at work, normally I’d try to do so before posting a potential repeat) but I hope someone already brought up target fixation and how he should have gone left instead of right.
Glad to see others ares are of similar opinion. Worst thing I’ve seen on here in awhile.
Is there some reason you couldn’t wait to report this WHEN/IF it becomes fact, rather than a bullshit pile of WHAT/IF?
My answer is, Mustang stuff is simply too easy one way or the other. It’s like shooting horses in a barrel.
COTD no one can possibly top this and it’s only 9:35am local time
One of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen in my whole life was a gigantic fire at a Jiffy Lube. White smoke engulfed the nearby Burger King, very impressive.
Neutral: I bought a Forester (‘13) which is made entirely in Japan. This factored into my decision because I’d had a Legacy (‘07) made in Indiana and there were certain things (mainly trim fit/finish, stuff like that) that I suspected had to do with USA build (I’d also had a ‘98 Civic built here with similar issues -…
Turbo, super, any kind of charger. Moar!
Hilarious; I get the impression that Jalopnik is at least as irritated by the continued lack of a turbo in this thing as I am.
Also - I actually test-drove one of these at one point. A manual swap would make it far more interesting, but given the power and weight I don’t think it would really transform the car.
“what could possibly go wrong”? Heh all that was pointed out (heft, no auto etc) plus the fact that Subes of that era were bigger rattle-traps than they are now (and I’ve purchased 2 new ones in ‘07 and ‘13 and believe me this problem hasn’t gone away).
Subaru had interesting ambitions with this car but they didn’t…
I think this is the best use of “because race car” I’ve ever seen.
