I'm content to just read the positive reviews and go "Huh. There's an animated movie called 'Sausage Party' which is somehow supposed to be pretty good; that's nice," without ever sitting down to watch it.

,,,

That's a fair point. And there's some compromises creators will always have to make when making kids' shows anyway. I will say that it feels like Star has a lot more freedom than Wander did; if it gets more popular, maybe they'll give it as much leash as they gave Gravity Falls, which hardly ever felt sterilized. I

Nice! Be sure and post some thoughts, maybe when you've finished the first season. It's got a lot more in common with Cartoon Network's best recent programming than the rest of Disney's; more Adventure Time than Gravity Falls. Disney tends to mix its lighter and darker elements together to create a smooth, ambivalent

!!!

Have you seen Toffee yet? His introduction is the first hint that the show is actually holding back a lot, and "Storm The Castle" is when shit gets real.

I'm very excited about Star vs. the Forces of Evil. I just caught up a few days ago, and I find myself in a rather unique position. I've seen recent cartoons do this before, where they start out silly and purely episodic and then slowly introduce more serious elements and ongoing plots, but I've never caught one this

Probably "America", and Bookends. Although Bridge Over Troubled Water is pretty hard to beat. It's tough to choose; there's something very dependable about those albums. Leaving aside the debut, they don't sound like artists searching for their identity: they know exactly what kind of music they want to make and

Waaaalle.

I'm so, SO excited to see it. Laika hasn't let me down once, and the trailers look incredible. I'm so in.

Groot's ass, in all likelihood, is literally made of grass.

It's the consistency that makes it such an apt comparison. I have the same implicit trust that whatever they put out will be great that I had for Pixar back in the aughties. They have utterly failed to fail, so far.

I'm actually way more depressed than I thought I would be. That show really got under my skin without my noticing. I've been watching "You're the Greatest" over and over with tears in my eyes; I suppose I make a fittingly pathetic, Hateresque image.

Nice. Watch the dub; it's one of the only ones almost universally agreed to be better than the sub.

Cowboy Bebop is a collision of all the coolest stuff in American pop culture which is also incredibly beautiful and moving, Gravity Falls is a thoroughly engrossing and sometimes terrifying small-town supernatural mystery mostly told through brilliantly comedic monster-of-the-week stories starring some of the most

Adventure Time
Firefly
Cowboy Bebop
Pushing Daisies
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Gravity Falls
Steven Universe

I have no more Wander Over Yonder to watch, and now I'm sad.

"The Nice Guys" was thoroughly brilliant.

Is that a slam against kids' shows, or progressiveness? Either way, I'm pretty sure I disagree with you.

It's a pretty legit character drama, at this point. It's worth taking seriously, as seriously as you could reasonably be expected to take an excellent "Adult" show. Which is to say, nowhere near as fanatically seriously as these fucktards do.
