This was a great game and I have mixed feelings about it. I would have loved if Japan got the upset victory but I doubt they would stand a chance against Brazil. Ultimately, Belgium has a chance against Brazil and I hope they can make it the finals so it’s not the same old teams trying to win the cup.

Fair play is like the 7th tiebreaker. Everything else was tied up until that. The 8th tiebreaker is a coin flip.

The Simpsons never predicted that Portugal and Mexico would meet in the finals of the World Cup. The tag line of “find out which nation is the greatest on Earth” is a commercial for the Continental Soccer Association which is likely just a friendly between the two nations.

This World Cup has been such a tease. I fully expect Germany to win tomorrow and Sweden to beat Mexico 10-0 so that only European and South American teams move on. At least I’ll always have Group H.

I used to go to a few LI Rough Rider games when I was probably 10 years old. They used to have “number of corner kicks” used as a tiebreaker.

With Belgium and England tied on GD/GF going into their match, I think it’s possible it could come down to the Fair Play tiebreaker which England is winning 2 yellows to 3.
