So happy for Cindy, and had no idea Steinbeck won a Nobel prize. $578, guys! It's not a trick!

Hey guys, I'm going to be starting a discussion around here at midnight Monday-Thursday titled Movies at Midnight. I work the overnight shift at a hotel and watch a lot of movies, often genre stuff that is newly available on a streaming service, so it'll be stuff you may have already seen or have the ability to watch.

A Jeopardy discussion during the day! Woo Cindy!

I too just watched this on Netflix. —-spoilers—-and 25 minutes in Christopher Lloyd kills the guy on the ice with a crazy hidden bug limb and starts doing stuff to the guy's organs. So what exactly is the "fantastic, in every sense of the word—plot twist in the film’s third act"?

Jeff Lemire is quietly becoming a favorite of mine, so I think you just sold me on Old Man Logan, and the first trade is on sale right now digitally.
I really want to read Doom Patrol; Way's Umbrella Academy was one of the first things I read when I got into comics and I still love it.

I only read trades, so here are my top ten of the year, in no order:
Copra
Archie
Ms. Marvel
Vision
Star Wars/Vader
Black Panther
Saga
Paper Girls
Descender
Lumberjanes

People of Earth took about four or five episodes to really click with me, so give it another chance if you gave up on it. I thought the first few were amusing, but I actually started to care about some characters once it got going.
No idea where they'll go with Search Party, but I'm excited for that too. Keep it up,

The poster for Moonlight is so beautiful; I love those colors.
Step it up, mainstream movies!

My top ten of the year, in release order (I think):
Blackstar-Bowie
Malibu-Anderson.Paak
Weezer (White Album)-Weezer
Puberty 2-Mitski
A Moon Shaped Pool-Radiohead
Head Carrier-Pixies
Blonde-Frank Ocean
22, A Million-Bon Iver
We've Got It From Here-A Tribe Called Quest
Awaken, My Love-Childish Gambino

How do you not even guess John Wilkes Booth for a manhunt during the Civil War? That book has been unread on my shelf for a few years now!
Edit: Maybe if I'd read the book I'd know that it takes place after the Civil War.

How about the scene in Popstar where Andy Samberg's Conner botches a quick costume change that required him to "tuck" his junk between his legs and ends up pantsless onstage, vocalizing the conundrum of "Do I untuck and everyone sees my dick, or remain tucked and look like I have no dick"? It sounds funnier than it is.

I really like the album and California is my only real dislike. I just can't do the vocals.

Well now I have to watch it! If I make it through the first episode I win. I'm sure I won't though. This looks terrible.

I Finally Saw This Movie Yesterday So Let's Discuss! —-spoilers—- I really liked the actual designs for the aliens, and was surprised when Louise entered their chamber and realized they were much bigger than everyone thought. She started looking at what she thought was the head but who knows if that was even the head,

Chew has some of the best background gags I've ever seen. The posters and flyers and stuff are always funny. It's been a while since I've read it; didn't Jules and Vincent from Pulp Fiction appear at the police precinct at some point?

I thought airlines was too easy, but I kept thinking of phone companies for some reason.

Everyone, Erica included, got a good laugh out of that "kangaroot" answer.

I've been listening to this on NPR all week and I really like it. All these songs have gotten stuck in my head. Especially some tracks you didn't mention, "Oona" and "All I Think About Now", the one Paz sings.

I do enjoy this feature, but now I've heard this song, so what are the true costs? Time will tell.

Be ready, everyone: Alex sneaks in a "boo hiss" after revealing Seth's wager. It's not your money, Alex! Please never say that again.
