She was attracted to violence because of a young hot-blooded freedom fighter called Private Akbar. Film to include scene where Akbar uses his illegal handgun to diddle Mothma after executing a daring rocket launcher attack on an Imperial Cruiser in retaliation for their Zionist attack on innocent Sand People. It's a Full Metal Jacket reference. But I've also thought that Inuits must have the warmest sexy parts (like hot soup on a cold December). That may be racist. And even if it isn't, I'm kind of ashamed of it.

My favorite thing about this movie are the long empty stretches where the boys are just trying to figure something out. It almost becomes experimental anti-comedy in parts, years before that became a normal thing.

Ajax: I think the show may have surprises in store for us. They started with a strong deterministic streak, but the creators seem to be willing to develop characters in unexpected directions.

Nothing to see here.

While I think the later seasons evolve towards something much deeper and richer (brimming with pathos), I started with the first season and I still like most of it. I think the 80's flashback, Sargossa Sea and tag sale episodes are really drew me into the series. I think part of the appeal was the density of the

I'd hate to say it, but while some may find it problematic, it's perfectly valid to have a male POV. Will that turn off certain segments of the audience? Sure. But in art you're allowed to have a strong pov. Not everything has to be a diversity rainbow all the time or express our values to be valid. While I'm

I don't agree that Dean never had Triana's affections. She definitely considered him a possibility before the Master visited her in the form of future Dean and put her on the road to magic.

I don't know but I've been told that Eskimo pussy is mighty cold.

Good call on Cave In. "Jupiter" was a very pleasant surprise when it came out. Unlike Heller, I appreciated it pretty much immediately, but that was probably because I had been listening to a lot of "extreme" metal that was opening up and exploring more melodic or psychedelic terrain at the time. It's too bad none of

And here I thought I was clever for getting the Trading Places callback in Coming to America. The Landis Universe is a thing. Quick, someone make a wiki.

Start with Antibalas. (and let me state for the record that the song samples streaming on this site sounds almost Sublime bad, which isn't an altogether bad thing if that's your thing)

Vampire Weekend is not racially boring. Their boringness is transcendent and all- inclusive. And yes, you get free alcoholic beverages and meals with every purchase.

I thought he said "Classic. Sein!" in reference to the Seinfeld episode where Kramer uses the line. Can someone confirm?
edit: I just went back and watched it. He says "Could use my Sein." Unless I'm just imagining it.

Yeah, I guess really depends on if the surface realness is appealing or not, and to me it is in this context. But I completely get what you're saying. Is realness a virtue in itself in a movie like this? Probably not, and it comes down to the same subjective questions. I think we'd both agree that it's not a GREAT

I believe it only "graces" the director's cut.

It's not horrible, it's just not a conventional narrative film. I often jokingly describe it as Terrence Malick making a cop movie with a digital camera, and leaving out the voice over. If you're expecting a police actioner that hits all the beats and genre tropes or has strong characterization, it's bound to be

I've re-watched it a lot. I think it's quite beautiful visually. I like to imagine a tv series reboot that matches the character-driven story lines of the show with the visual style of the movie. I think that would incredible. As it is, I enjoy the movie.

I don't think so. Miami Vice takes its time and lingers. It also sticks to digital film and doesn't use three different film stocks and editing styles like Stone does. There's nothing ADD-focused about. There are only a handful of scenes that do the sudden zoom in/focus shift thing.

It's amazing how many people hate this movie. I think it's pretty damn good for what it is: a police procedural. It's got a kind of drifting dreamlike atmosphere, some fairly realistic shootouts, a winding story that never uses unnecessary exposition or talks down to the audience, fantastic location shooting and great
