And hearing you put these elements in a more discerned way than I could have has made me want to watch them both again too. I'll take my popcorn buttered, please!

Since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the sun. I shall do the next best thing: block it out.
THE HOUR HAS COME!
Too bad they can't aim it at the financial district.
My favorite part is that someone actually said crikey.
How is there not some kind of anti-reflective coating that could be used on the windows?
Solution:
Agreed. I was really hoping that we would find him still the Lord Marshall. Then some new enemy comes along and Riddick goes all Captain Ahab. His quest to destroy the new enemy destroys his own army and own kingdom before they get to underverse.
Pitch Black was a cool little Gem. The Chronicles movie had ups and downs, but DAY-um was it ambitious.
I think I will support this movie as someone who wants to see more larger "indie-movies".
I like the sort of implication that Jack/Kyra's death actually affected Riddick enough that he you know, *feels bad* about it and sort of melancholy for a long time afterwards. He becomes the Lord Marshal, but his only friends are dead, and he just sort of goes soft out of grief.
That idea only works if you're willing to ignore all of the off-screen stuff that he has done (as a criminal on a criminal spree) and the beginning of Pitch Black, where he murders his way free before shit gets horror movie time.
THIS is EXACTLY why I thought this movie would suck - Pitch Black was amazing because Riddick EMERGED as the sort of main character. He was so much cooler and scarier and more intimidating when the other characters were talking about him and deciding if he was trustworthy, etc, and he was saying VERY little. Or like…
The whole thing with Anti-Heroes needing a good supporting cast of characters is precisely what was wrong with the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie (and to a lesser extent 2 and 3). Captain Jack is a great character, who only really shines when he's got great characters to play off of.
NOT ON MY WATCH!
I'm all hetero male here and I love Klaus. Compelling character with a good actor.
Personally I don't know what they're going to do to make it interesting. Klaus could obliterate every vampire/witch in New Orleans with little effort and now that Elijah and Rebeka are with him it would be child's play.
Actually, I find the actress who plays Hayley irritating. TVD has never been a haven of tremendous acting skills, but that woman is HORRIBLE. And the character is fairly uninteresting.
What gets me about this series is the whole bloodlines thing. Klaus is never in any mortal danger from Marcel because he turned him. Killing Klaus kills Marcel and probably most of his Hornets.
I WHIP MY HAIR! [PUNCH]
It's definitely the way Joseph Morgan plays him. He does really well with creating an irredeemable, yet vulnerable villain. He's my favourite character on TVD, and to be honest, now that he's left, I don't know that TVD will be as interesting.
SAY HELLO TO XENU!
