X1/9, easymode. That thing has the style, the chops and the design to shine for a whole new generation.

Kyle and Erin split credit for the win here.

Are we just going to ignore the reflection of  a gigantic beer-gut in the picture of the rear panel? The one that seems to be framed by an open shirt? Yes? Ok then.

This guy. 1989 Daihatsu Hijet. My first JDM ride and one that was just too much fun for words. The RHD, the tiny engine, the looks I get... It’s just been a delight to have, gets everything I need to do done and asks for nothing in return. How can you NOT have fun with a mini truck?

The steering wheel is on the wrong side for that!

Lawrence has nailed this one out of the park with what is, demonstrably the right answer.

Tom is 100,000% correct - Done in one.

Spoiler alert: The source of this is bullshit.

Those VW-body-kit-kei-vans aren’t truly legal. I know because I had one seized at port coming over from Japan. Some do get through, but if yours gets flagged, it’s as good as scrap so don’t try to import them. If they’re already here, cool, but any chance VW gets, they’ll put the boots to them.

Suzuki Cappuccino. As someone who is 6' even, there is no reasonable amount of time I can spend in one of these amazing little rides that’s considered even remotely comfortable. Which is a damn shame, because as far as kei cars go, this is top 3. I mean, look at it! Who wouldn’t want to take a spin in this!?

Thank you on both counts! It’s been an absolute joy to have and I cannot wait to do some real joyriding.

Easymode! Autozam AZ-1. These guys are expensive if they’re already stateside, but you can find a solid one at auction for around $10k and have it imported and shipped to your door for less than that additional $5k. How can you NOT have fun in this?!

Japanese auctions are dangerous on my wallet, but with wins like this... How can I say no?

How about the one that just got dropped off in my driveway from Japan today?

The company that gave us the god damned CALIBER is on this list? Bro.

Oh man, just another feather in the Kei Truck cap, for real. Is there anything these can’t do? I brought over an ‘89 Hijet with 11k miles and love the thing. I’m pumped to get new wheels on this and out the door.

This style of neo-classic cars from the 80s and 90s is so weirdly common. Our local exotic dealership had two of these and two Tiffany roadsters that just sat for years. Unsurprising, since they wanted similar prices back then and I’m sure took hits just to get them off the lot.

Raphael is 100% correct here and should be listened to unquestioningly.

Tesla. There, I said it.

The correct answer is the OG Kia Soul hamstar ads. Those things sold incredible numbers of cars and resonated for years.
