Been on the waitlist for three months now myself. The news that they had to shutdown signups temporarily last week due to “interest” has me suspicious. Just how many people were camping on their invites that it could potentially crash the servers.

Nah, I’m calling it. It’s DOA. Well, wait, it can’t even be DOA because it hasn’t even A’d yet. So I guess it’s DBA.

Glad it’s not just me. I signed up for an invite as well, and never heard back. After a while I decided I didn’t really need to use it.

Again, I’m absolutely willing to believe that Bluesky is awesome, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s not available to 99% of people out there. Maybe 98%. All I know is that the only person I followed on Twitter who got on Bluesky is a semi big name (big name in a particular subsegment of a mainly Anglophone

I also signed up. Got an invite a couple months back, but it will not let me complete the process.

I’ve been on the waitlist since it started. It’s a non-event until I can give it a go. Threads was more than welcoming to let me in.

I mean, there’s always the option of being a bit less greedy when it comes to user data... but I know that tantamounts to a utopia. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Let’s test tigerberry’s theory.

Sorry Meta,  but there is already a Twitter killer app, it’s name is Elon Musk.

Instead it’s run by a guy who loves conspiracy theorist RFK, Jr.

Part of it, I think, is that there hasn’t been a viable alternative yet. Is Bluesky that alternative? I don’t know, and while early indications are promising we don’t know how it will scale and Jack Fucking Dorsey is behind it. Mastodon definitely isn’t. Hive probably isn’t.

Well, I think not apologizing for the barely-there sponsorship would’ve been the bare minimum. I don’t think a PR statement saying, “we support anyone who will give us money, some of whom you don’t like, deal with it” would’ve been out of the question either.

What does Jack Dorsey have on the tech media? Why do they push every project of his even when they are just clones of what he already made except with a built in feature that guarantees it’s going to be a cesspool of hate and bigotry just how he likes it.

Just wanted to add that even if you feel the service might warrant a little something extra, that person who actually did the service may never see that money you typed into the POS system. A lot of places have that by default in their machines, but do not actually distribute those tips to the employees. If you’d like

Tipping perpetuates inequality. It comes from the practice of wealthy people slipping their service worker cash to get preferential treatment. I have more money than the next guy, and I’ll make it worth you while to ignore others and serve me first, or serve me best, or whatever. That’s the practice that has

I don’t understand why auto mechanics aren’t tipped

Where are you getting your information that these workers are not expecting a tip?  Sure, maybe not at first, but a few people get pressured into it and now its happening more often, sooner or later they’ll start expecting it.

All this tipping “just because” is entitlement and way overboard. Tipping at the McD drive-thru? Please. No thanks. But I will tip my oil-change dude who spent the better part of 30 minutes trying to dislodge my previously over-tightened filter. It’s all just common sense and courtesy. But there’s no way I’m tipping a

Don’t tip anyone. Problem solved!

OR we stop tipping, and drivers stop taking jobs for pennies. Then they have to raise prices and give the drivers a fair deal.
