“Children should be seen and not heard” has always been a conservative viewpoint. That’s one stark difference between conservatives and liberals; one feels that young people should be empowered, the other will always be dismissive and contemptuous of youth.

On Saturday mornings I work with a class that teaches green card holders what they need to know to be citizens. The guy who runs the class is an older white guy whose politics could best be described as libertarian-ish. I roll my eyes at a lot of the things he says, but, at the end of the day, he’s a 70-year-old

Watched this with girlfriends parents and her brother and his wife. All of them NRA, trumptards, except my GF. They kept yelling trumpublican and nra talking points every time a kid would speak. Was brutal. All were in agrreement....”If I had a gun I would’ve shot him in a second.” “Need more guns in school!”

That was savage. He got destroyed. He thought he was playing the crowd, and he got fucking destroyed by the crowd.

“Sears, which is now a deserted parody of a Soviet-era store”

Perfection. Legit.

Sears, which is now a deserted parody of a Soviet-era store, used to offer similar lifetime guarantees on Craftsman tools. I went in with a broken tape measure that I’d bought more than 30 years previously and sheepishly asked whether the guarantee applied. The worker just directed me to a wall of tape measures and

Candles!! Holy hell.

I declare that a legitimate return.

On the flipside of that, last year I bought some black loafer-style shoes from Zappo’s that were labeled as “leather upper”. Well, the very thin veneer of leather started peeling within a few weeks. I got on the Zappo’s live-chat customer service and asked if there was any possible way they could maybe exchange the

In college I worked at a store that had a similar, free for all return policy. I expected regular people to take advantage of it because I have little faith in humanity. What I didn’t expect was my general manager doing it. One of our most popular range of products was large, expensive candles. I watched my manger,

I have to return some leggings to Amazon because they got a snag/runner the first time I wore them. Last night I may have invalidated the return by washing them, but no way would I send back a pair of unwashed leggings (that I had, er, worn without underwear to avoid lines.) That’s just rude.

At least it was yours and you returned it because it was malfunctioning. The people returning items they themselves bought from Goodwill is astonishing to me.

I’ve never understood how anyone could have the audacity to return boots they’d worn for years and expect brand new ones. I always cringe when people discuss it online. I’d be humiliated.

I have been in a rage about the attacks on the judge for 24 hours now. A) it’s beside the point, B) you come off as defending the feelings of a serial molester/rapist, C) there’s plenty of judges out there looking out for men, don’t worry, D) his letter and statements about the impact on his mental health proves that

I actually did my thesis recently on the gender wage gap, and the gap is actually the widest at the top (dispelling the myth that more education/experience will get you equal wages). So yeah, they might be making more money, but it’s far less than men.

Megan quick but important correction - this wasn’t a trial, he plead guilty to the charges. This was a sentencing hearing. A trial requires a person to be tried by judge or jury - which only occurs if the defendant disputes the charges (he did not - thus, not a trial).

She has absolutely the right idea: it’s not enough to go after individual predators. You have to go after the systems that allow the predators to operate with impunity. I believe she will stick with it and change the way we treat our elite athletes and hopefully all child and young adult athletes around the country.

Important point because people are attacking the judge. When he had already admitted guilt and she was no longer at a point where she had to give him that benefit of the doubt.

Quick point of information: It wasn’t a trial; Nassar pleaded guilty in November. This was a sentencing hearing.

You. Go. Girl.
