I agree, but I’m going to give her props because she said fuck you, everyone who wouldn’t dress me for all those other red carpets, I’m going to design my own gown.
Those smokey eyyyyyyyyyyyes! All the +1s.
It would be wonderful to see so many stars age naturally. Alas, they’re not really allowed to (exhibit A, Carrie Fisher).
They’re awful enough on their own, but then coupled with that cutout = death knell. Confusing gown.
Came here to say the same thing. Ugh, I had a halter cut exactly like this from American Eagle I insisted on wearing constantly circa 1999, 2000.
Slicked back would be pretty badass dashing, I think. Such a waste.

This feels like too serious a reply to this crap, but little does the OCR know that most pro cheerleaders are officially discouraged from fraternizing with the players. (Source: one of my students last semester cheers for the Bengals.)
It’s really hard to decide. Bad camera angle? Weird face work? Don’t do drugs, kids?
This is excellent. Thank you.
I second the Tim Wise rec; I also really love Amy Tan’s essay “Mother Tongue,” which helps students to understand that different vernaculars aren’t deficient, as well as how our language use affects how we are perceived and treated. I also often pair Tan with a chapter from bell hooks’ Teaching to Transgress on…
