NUMBER 28. NUMBER 28 FOR DAYS.
NUMBER 28. NUMBER 28 FOR DAYS.
oh god I can’t stop laughing
Yep. My partner’s paper was reviewed by...one person? I didn’t know it was possible not to have at least two reviewers on a paper, but there you have it, anything’s possible with PloS journals!
I have a friend who makes amazing finger puppets and created some fairly convincing replicas of me and my partner. (Like, out of felt!)
The LOVE sculpture replica I bought on Etsy because I’m from the Philadelphia area and wanted to homage home.
Me too. One thing that convinces me a little more: on their FB page a few days ago (it now looks like the page has been suspended/taken down) a popular and openly out city councilman asked for calm and mentioned that conversations with LGBT groups and the restaurant were underway.
Their food is amazing, so I hope this…
They do sometimes post the specials to their FB page (which ever so CURIOUSLY has been taken down...).
I love the Senate so, so much but they need to wake up to the political implications of their ‘dog names. The trailer park dog (a menu fixture and not a rotating special) is another problematic example.
Thank you for saying this. I didn’t feel like this was a big deal until I read your take. And now it’s leading my to interrogate my privilege in being able to trace my ancestry.
Absolutely. I don’t really have any memories of attention from my peers that made me feel ashamed or gross, even though I didn’t necessarily enjoy it. It was the attention from grown men when I was a fucking 12 year old that makes me feel dirty to this day.
I still remember how traumatized the first time I was street harassed by a grown man (I believe I was 12?), and my immediate impulse was to blame myself. (In fact, I raced home to change because I was convinced it was my fault for wearing a tank top and shorts on a hot summer day.)
I think that one thing you can do for…
I don’t remember exactly how old I was (maybe 6th grade? A little older?), but I remember it was a hot summer day and I needed to walk to my piano lesson, so I wore a spaghetti-strap tank top and shorts. A man driving a truck came up beside me, stopped so that he could make a long, low whistle, and then drove off.
I…
That eyeliner is making him look like a ‘90s goth teenager or something.
Aw thanks. :) The Death Penalty Information Center is a really comprehensive resource, and one that I’ve turned to in the past to educate myself on these issues (as you can tell by my post!).
I think I heard on the radio that his lawyers sought such a plea bargain but were not able to get one. Which kind of seems like a shame, to me—would save a lot of money. Of course, I’m also anti-death penalty....
ughhhh. people.
This is a really great resource for considering the cost of the death penalty, to save you some Googling. Basically the trials are more complex and longer, the jury selection is more time-consuming, there are lots of appeals (which are taxpayer funded), and incarcerating someone on death row (solitary, high security)…
Fun fact, the death penalty is actually more expensive: the cases are typically more complex, jury selection is more time-consuming and trials last longer, incarceration is more expensive (solitary confinement and higher security), and there are usually lots of taxpayer-funded appeals.
That said, I still cosign the…
Read about the release of this book on the WaPo—apparently the WH domestic staff have never signed disclosure agreements. Typically, all that keeps them from telling all is a culture of discretion (“that’s not something we do”).
Really? I live in Clifton and like the water just fine (we use a Brita for our coffee/tea and also have a filtrating fridge dispenser). I don't recall ever having an issue drinking tap water anywhere in the city.
This makes me want to scratch out my eyeballs.
