Even with EV’s that have resistive cabin heating get near instant heat. Don’t most of them have the capabilities to remote “start” them and thus start warming the cabin, all while still pulling power from the grid instead of the battery?

Which is another advantage to home charging, even if you park outside.  Your EV can use grid power to keep the pack temp above freezing and in cars with a heat pump and heat scavenging, you’ll get instant heat in the cabin as its using heat stored in the pack to augment interior climate.

EV or PHEV have uses for different driving habits for sure. In my family we have two cars. For me an EV is fine because I just drive around within the city. But for our second car that takes long drives on a regular basis the PHEV is the best option to eliminate the need to stop for long periods of time to recharge.

Well-said. We started with no asphalt roads, and then cars sold badly because there were no asphalt roads. Worked out. This is all going to be ugly for a while, and to be expected.

It would help to see the total for PHEVs as many see them as a great way to get into EV without having to deal with range anxiety. A lot of people can do the vast majority of their driving on the small battery range PHEVs offer.

This kind of stuff fascinates me. Not to be morbid but it’s kind of like treasure hunting. The reward of giving a family closure must feel great.

Not really for me, but it appears well-sorted and would figure to have plenty of life left in it. This one is on the simpler end without the Quattro (blessing and curse there, but ultimately I think a good thing for a car of this age). Cost of ownership should be within the reasonable range as compared to the average

Do you remember a show on Fox called “Woops!” One of the main characters survived nuclear Armageddon due to the fact he was in a Volvo at the time.

That ad was 6 years ago.

If you want a ridiculously slow tank that could shrug off a direct nuclear strike, this is your car. Otherwise, the nostalgia factor on these is overrated.

Be fair now, the F-150 really hasn’t changed styling other than head and tail lights since they added the superduty style front windows in 2004.

Thanks for watching!

Lucid’s electric motors are smaller, lighter and more power-dense than the vast majority of other electric motors. Having a large battery pack certainly helps range, but so does aerodynamics and other factors, and the Air is one of the most aerodynamic cars you can buy. A Hyundai Ioniq 6 has much less power and a

There has been a lot of discussion in the comments sections of EV articles as to why these vehicles need to have such large motors and accelerate so fast. Wouldn’t the EV get better ramge if it had smaller motor(s)?

NHTSA last tested what now is the 1500 Classic in 2018 and it scored 4/5 then. There have been no mandated standards for trucks added since so it still meets standards.

Don’t forget the Econoline. Yes, you havent been able to buy a full van body since 2015 but this design came out 32 years ago.  It took MY20 off when they changed over from the V10 to the Godzilla 7.3 V8, but yeah.

Don’t worry, he’s just trying to gatekeep based on qualities that he (conveniently) meets.

Ram is probably going to do what Chevy does with their Express cargo vans. Run them forever

I can’t be the only one who thinks this is kind of awesome, right? Isn’t this basically peak-Jalop? Buying the cars of yesteryear that we claim to pine for, but also with a warranty?

I loved these cars when they were new, but fortunately I couldn’t afford one. I don’t know if I or anyone can afford to keep it on the road now but still want it. A totally unreasonable and impulsive NP from me.
