I don’t get the contemporary hate for the SC. Sure, it was terrible value new, but now, they’re a cheap, V8, RWD convertible Toyota. That sounds better than a Solara to me.

I’ve never understood how someone could seriously arrive at the idea that companies would pay better without minimum wage laws... they are literally paying *as little as possible* without getting in trouble. Getting hired at minimum wage is literally the company saying “We value you very, very little, but we aren’t

Even pre-covid, I would commonly witness fast food and dollar story locations go out of business because they could not get enough people to work. I am not sure what economic theory posits that it is better to go out of business than pay what it takes to get workers to show up, but a lot of companies operate that way.

I knew a guy like that. It made it very difficult to put any weight on his other opinions knowing he was naive enough to think businesses would “do the right thing” and “people would stop working for bad companies if we named our own wages". I'm going to go with no on that, because like that guy I'm going to guess the

yep.  the last few years have shown just how rotten America is.

I remember my first college economics class and this professor who proudly exclaimed if there was no minimum wage laws then people would be paid a lot more. I wonder if these people have ever acknowledged their naivety. Companies will always fight to pay as little as possible and seeing how much they fight against

I think we both know that I was masking my deep-seeded, and shameful, love of the absurdity of this thing with over the top snark and internet-aggression.

I think folks of all political persuasions can appreciate this thing. If I had the money and land, I can certainly see myself having a blast driving around in a tank.

COTD.

Greenville, MI: Home of Electrolux, which makes vacuums.  Those products and this Explorer have a lot in common.

Yeah, I did that same double-take.

The Explorer was BOF all the way through the 2010 model year.

Was it worth that new? And man you forget how terrible mid 90s Ford interiors were.

100% this.

Damn it, you just out bid me, by $6000, such is life,

You lost me at “. . . nicest 1994 Ford Explorer . . .”

No.

Normally I would agree with you. And for anyone outside of VW fans everything done on this car does not add to price. But all the Euro parts, The dash replace, the MKII Recaro seats with mounting hardware, and those wheels... christ those wheels alone, I have no idea how much those cost. I know 15 years ago when I was

As a guy who’d dabbled with hot-rodded VWs, I can appreciate the builder’s tastes and well-crafted updates to this ’Basket. I wouldn’t be embarrassed to cruise the next VW Waterfest with this little scooter. Hell, if I had the time and budget to detail it out, it’s worth showing at the next Waterfest.
