The best part of the Grand Marquis was Car & Driver’s running gag of “still no De Sade option” in their annual new car issue.

It’s in legit nice shape, but this is in no way whatsoever interesting or collectible. Its best and highest use at this point would be in a movie fleet.

That’s a Mercury Monarch. Mid-size (for the time)

The interiors on these cars were breathtakingly bad. Hideously cheap.

That’s an amazingly easy conversation to imagine

I understand hydroplaning was an issue as well

This Pulsar is definitely one of Nissan’s better designs. While the interior is a little dated the body style is still pretty decent.

Used Tercel. Just about ANY used Tercel.

On the AMG I think there’s a fair argument to go with the sport grille. It’s intended to be a different car.

Notice the copy on that ad. Clearly it was a bit of an uphill climb even at the time.

It’s not just A/C, though. There’s a crapload of other stuff to configure.

Here’s a little for-instance: I just drove a truck today that allowed me to set a specific level for the stereo to start at when you get in and turn the key. So when I’ve been blasting Octane on SiriusXM at high volume the next person to get in

One thing a lot of armchair analysts seem to be missing is Ford’s fuel economy strategy: instead of raising their fleet average with smaller cars with razor-thin margins, it looks like they’re banking on hybrid and full-EV versions of the same high-margin vehicles to boost that average.

No. There should never be a 4-door Thunderbird. They tried that once.

While I wouldn’t call that a good idea, exactly, that’s a surprisingly non-putrid render

That may be why they’re not scheduling a terminal date just yet. Possible that many buyers will take a closer look at the Fusion if the Focus is ending availability.

Okay, but then how do you provide controls for that other stuff?

The trouble being that they could not possibly make room on the dash for a physical button for everything that can be controlled via the touchscreen.

The S60 would be the E-Class competitor. The 90 series is approaching the S-Class in size (but not quite there)

I’m taking a world-wide view. Middle class is growing by leaps and bounds in China, India, and all over Africa. Active military confrontation is at relative low. Global population growth leveling off.

Auto fatalities plummeted for decades, and while they’ve stabilized in recent years (possibly due to distracted driving), they’re still lower than even 1950s levels when the driving population was MUCH smaller. Autonomous tech promises to reduce that number even further.
