Those SUVs you mention are all built on light duty frames and have the tow capacity to match. Even the 2500 Suburbans were “heavy halfs”. Wheelbase has nothing to do with it; this is a common misconception. The Excursion was only as big as a regular cab truck and not really any longer or wider than a Suburban.

They’d rather sell you a crew cab HD truck, and for most people that’s enough.

Ford and GM’s refusal to build new vehicles that compete in this space is what leads to prices like this.

If this was not a professional setting and among friends I can see your point. Also considering a lot of young impressionable fans with maybe low self esteem, hears that and actually take those comments to heart.

I’m not sure “no one would care.” But I do think such comments are more harmful when you have the physical trait viewed as less desirable. Being told you should get height reduction surgery would be less painful, because tall men know they are not generally being judged negatively for being tall.

I’m with planehugger on this; saying that a broad group of people should be ashamed of their bodies and seek surgical care to “correct” it is fucking disgusting. It wouldn’t be any different than me going on Jezebel and saying, “Fat chicks are gross, they should all just get liposuction! lolz”

I understand it's like what the guy in Gattaca does. I had a very small girlfriend at some point who had been seriously considering it when she was younger and even had seen doctors about it.

I think a person is being inappropriate anytime they suggest that someone is lesser because of a physical feature, and say they should get painful surgery to fix the supposed deficiency. That goes for the comments here, as well as the (far more common) comments women get about their physical features.
