My dad bought a then new '91 Sentra XE, stick. It was the car I learned to drive manual on. That car could get an honest 40 mpg highway and the only problem may dad ever had was a perpetually off fuel gauge. That car survived my dad, my sister and me until my sister got t-boned in an intersection.

Good eye, but I couldn't find a picture of the '93 concept without the funny black add-on bumpers.

Where would the '93 Prowler concept fit in?

It's a shame they didn't catch on there. They have quite the cult following in the U.S. I would have assumed being all-wheel drive would only increase its popularity in Norway. Am I completely off-base for thinking that way?

It sure surprised the heck out of the Honda/Acura kids. Well, it did until I got the Turbo sticker that was only put on the car for the 88-89 model years. Then they weren't as surprised anymore ;-) I put the 6" Apex-i Dunk exhaust to try and incite them to challenge me. After I put the sticker on, I was able to move

Everyone has their own preferences.

1st gen Probe GT had the same F2T 12 valve turbo motor as the MX-6 GT:

"Had it just been called the GT, that would have been way better."

Unfortunately the Mazda designed KL03 V6 in the Probe and MX-6 had pretty much no relation to the Duratec V6 used in the Contour SVT. However, someone mentioned earlier the re-imagined Mercury Cougar was supposed to be the 3rd gen Probe and it deserved the SVT treatment and that Contour SVT engine should have been

Sorry, off-topic, but my eyes were immediately drawn to the Dodge Shelby GLHS on the left.

Points for referencing the SVX, that is a beautiful car, but most cars penned by Giugiaro are. However, didn't the first gen Probe have that greenhouse before the SVX was even in production back in 88?

Always loved the chrome swirlies as we used to call them.

It would have never really competed with the 300ZX or J30 as those were above it's price point completely. It would have competed with this though:

The Cougar could have been so much better with the inclusion of the factory modified engine used in the Contour SVT. Even better if SVT had done up the suspension like they had modified the Contour's.

If only they'd engineered the KLZE for use in North America instead of using the KL03. A lot of those swaps were done and the motor was good for 200 hp stock instead of the 164 hp from the KL03.

1st gen MX-6 seats were awesome as well. 11 hour trip from Texas to Iowa without a problem. Manually adjustable height, lumbar and the best was the adjustable side bolsters. Came to find out later they were made by Recaro.

How can you say that?

I loved torque steer on mine!

Love the 1st gens! This was my 1st gen 1990 Blaze Red MX-6 GT Turbo, the Probe's sister car.

Yeah, I could see how a non-enthusiast might make that mistake.
