What are the benefits associated with being in one of these bands?

What are the benefits associated with being in one of these bands? Are there scholarships, etc.? I ask because I’m wondering what repercussions these kids would face if instead of actually playing their instruments at the next game, they simply walked out or collectively took a knee or something.

It sucks shit. Would rather have someone who doesn’t do brownface and blackface and doesn’t have a Haida tattoo (unless of course, that someone actually were Haida). But he’ll probably get to stay in charge with a minority government because enough people are coming around on the idea that the Conservatives are even

I struggle to balance “he’s a shit person”, with “he’s an employee who has not been convicted of anything.” The second is objectively true, and the first is subjectively true. Why shouldn’t he be allowed to work while the wheels of allegation and investigation and hopefully justice continue to turn?

Obviously, the NYTimes needs a better Weekend Editor. You up for it, David?

I think of the Midvale school for the gifted every time I push a door handle that says “pull”.

Two things: this feels like a trailer for an overblown Clancy-esque spy action flick than a, you know, person running for political office. Also, why do we care that your family members served? Why do we keep doing this to ourselves? “Well, my dad was a navy pilot, so I deserve a career”: sound familiar?

Had I known the former vice president was going to run for office, I assure you, I would not have probably been that— that forthcoming.

“He exuded the confidence of a man whose mind was made up, perhaps, even indifferent to considering the consequences were he judging the situation incorrectly.”

Mattis is wildly oversimplifying what happened, which doesn’t suit his narrative as well as “they didn’t listen to the military”. It was the Obama administration’s diplomatic failures in Iraq, particularly with Sunni discontent, rather than the troop withdrawal that gave space for the Islamic State expansion. The

Look, I’m tired of going over this: Up is not a depressing movie. Unless you watched the first ten minutes and turned it off, in which case, yes, it’s nearly suicide inducing.  The movie as a whole is wonderful and I watch it often.

All we are is bits in the wind…
