The hidden wonder of clean diesel. The expenses of this and the fuel don’t add up for most daily drivers. Maybe just my experience with a GL-350 BluTec. But I will not go back to diesel in the near future

My opinion on VW’s woes - full disclaimer, I know next to nothing about business, manufacturing or global strategy - is they should become the IKEA of the auto world. Incorporate a funky, European, modernist approach to design both inside and outside the vehicles. Build them to a price but still confer the feeling…
I’m waiting for the Porsche Khamsin minivan with seating for 7, 16 cupholders, a built-in Miehle vacuum cleaner, and, yep, a freakin’ Blaupunkt just for old times’ sake. It’s coming in 2018, with the hybrid and AWD versions to follow a year later.
I love it, but it also makes me angry, because Jeep will never build this.
