At this point I give Trump a better than 60 percent chance of being reelected. Pretty much every poll in existence had Clinton winning (many by a comfortable margin). There are several reasons for this

So if this works, what happens in late October 2020 when Trump declares ‘voter fraud’ a national emergency?
““independent centrist,” whatever the fuck that means.”
Most Trump supporters don’t actually live anywhere near the border and have no interest in relocating.
This is McConnell covering for Trump. The votes are there to pass a budget and the votes are there to override a veto. He will not let the budget come up for a vote. He’s protecting Trump from an embarrassing legislative defeat. And he’s willing to hurt the country to protect the President and his party.
But they weren’t supposed to loose their benefits. It was all the free-loading “other people” who were supposed to loose benefits. No they deserve their benefits because they have good reasons for needing them, unlike those annoying “other people” who don’t.
I guess somebody finally explained to Trump all the shade Mattis’ resignation letter threw his way.
It’s not Assad and Syria that’s going after the Kurds. The main force behind this is Turkey. They want the Kurds crushed (have for a long time). They’re the main people pushing for the US to get out of the way.

It does make one wonder what $700+ billion we send to the Defense Department actually does. It’s not going into the soldiers’ pay. It’s not going to readiness, it’s not going to maintenance. I know a big chunk is used to blow things up in around a half dozen or so countries. Where does the rest of the money go?
Cut social services to the bone and all you’re left with is the cops. Which is fine when all you’re after is control and fear. But sucks for actually helping people.
The classic 1939 “The Wizard of Oz” was the 11th filmed version of the book. Large numbers of early sound and color movies were remakes of earlier Silent and black and white movies.
This is the state where polls showed strong support for the ACA along with an utter loathing for Obamacare.
It was running for President that killed most of the good will he built up. “Now, verb, 9/11” just devastated him. Then he latched unto the looney fringe of the Republican to stay relevant.
The question that really scares me, what happens when one of the ‘fetus is a person’ laws makes it to SCOTUS?
Carl Kasell was part of my morning commute for nearly 20 years. He was a lot of fun on Wait! Wait!.
All branches of the military (particularly the Army) have been steadily lowering their standards for over a decade to meet enlistment needs. They are having a harder and harder time getting new recruits and retaining people when their enlistments end.
