i agree with you about big blockbusters, they just haven’t been as good as they used to be, though, I think all the modern mission impossible movies are spectacular.

i mean top gun is 100% military propaganda but is also an incredible big dumb blockbuster movie. My local movie theater just did a screening and with the movie playing at a crushing volume you realize how inspired the sound designer who thought, “hey, jet engines sound like guitar solos,” was. Brilliant popcorn movie.
