there’s a joke to be made here about how first party nintendo games never go on sale, but this is ridiculous

can you explain crypto and blockchain and mining to me like i’m five?

Man, remember when fifa was fun.

look dude i’m not saying that copy of the game is worth 1.5 million dollars, but at any level of collecting - millions, hundreds of thousands, thousands, hundreds, whatever - the condition of the box is important. are the prices inflated? probably! i don’t know or care enough to find that out, but you cannot seriously

oh come on, we can talk about the “ethics” of this throwing this kind of wealth around or critique capitalism but don’t be dense, of course the condition of the box matters in terms of collectability, the guy didn’t buy SMB64 to play it for fucks sake.

okay that makes sense thanks for the clarification!

go ahead and elaborate on this comrade.

i definitely spend my money like an asshole but isn’t the point of a video game to do the shit yourself? i don’t get it

i don’t mean to be dismissive to folks who are moved by the album or enjoy it or whatever, but i do reject the notion that comes with this album - not necessarily saying you’re saying this exactly - but like something being challenging does not mean its automatically good nor does something being accessible make it

by my count there’s three crazy things in this story:

I mean I wouldn’t either but I’m also not shitting on their party, which, to be fair they might be in to!

yeah i mean i freely admit i don’t like the album - at all - but i think trout mask replica is really, really wrapped up in its own mythos, so the narrative of it being wildly unavailable, which it hasn’t as you pointed out for some time, peels back the curtain to reveal what it is: a mostly unlistenable pile of

those dudes are definitely having more fun than you are lol

now i want to hear the conversation where Tremaine could justify launching Steve-O strapped into a full portapotty like a rocket.

10/10 comment.

But don’t worry, vinyl nerds, Zappa hasn’t forgotten about you.

i wish more collectors of any hobby felt this way, i get the value of “new in box” but man, i’d hate to look at my records all day and never play them

that’s true, and different collectors have different collecting philosophies, but i’m of the mind that the stuff you collect should be kept safely first, and artfully second, even if that means dipping into the collecting budget. i guess to me those are one-in-the-same.

definitely not the most pedantic response to this article, /sad laugh.

like i said, thanks for being a fan!
