I always make sure I clarify, its record profit PERCENTAGES. Record profits would happen with inflation if your percentages stayed the same. Its the record PERCENTAGES that piss me off.

One thing people fail to mention is the rise of financing. People had to be able to buy things (houses, cars, etc) in cash for the most part back in the day. It was difficult to have something sell if it required people to save for 30 years. 

I really get the impression they arent really car guys and they just get things they think will impress other people. 

If the wheels and tires didnt stick out 4 inches past the fenders I would probably be a lot more receptive to this. As it is, it looks terrible.

Just because they were stupid doesnt mean it didnt widely happen. There are only so many people out there who can make a 2 door coupe work for them and have to choose.

I 100% think emissions testing should be moved back to 8-10 years. How many failures does the state identify on cars 2 years old? 4 years old? Etc. Follow the federal emissions mandate of 8 years (or 80,000 miles, but lets ignore that part) and start testing then. Because I have a feeling there is a near zero failure…

You can take away drivers licenses...doesnt stop people from getting behind the wheel, sadly. 

What I’m getting at is there wasnt a significant cost reduction entry level, just wanna look cool on a Sunday drive trim, like a 5.7L Automatic. The Corvette had that. Even the entry levelest of Vipers were competing price wise with a top trim Corvette. 

Fabricating failures will happen when you have compulsory inspections done by people whos paycheck is dependent upon commissions from customers failing said inspection. The state should have fixed rate semi-retired people doing the inspections who are unaffiliated with any repair facility to negate this. 

I mean....Nissan didnt sell these anywhere outside of Japan I dont think...I imagine they could have sold if given the option.
