Frank Miller played around with that idea back in the 80s in Dark Knight Returns, where Supes is basically a weapon used by future president Ronald Reagan.

He actually wrote a pretty good amount of horror short stories, too, and they are decidedly creepier and scarier than Something Wicked (which I found a little more sentimental than I could handle when I reread it recently).

I agree in principle, but I also think Esmail has already demonstrated considerable chops at presenting a blurry version of reality in Mr Robot, so I’m hopeful this will work out.

One thing that’s worth mentioning for horror genre fans is that this is based on a novella by the weird fiction/neo-Lovecraft up-and-comer author Laird Barron. I find his output slightly uneven but he shines in short stories and novellas, and this movie does do a good job of evoking the mood he usually goes for - for

And The Shack. WTF, PBS?

The comics have frankly not aged well, and this show is doing quite a service to Tulip in particular by presenting her as a badass and not a damsel in distress whose only purpose in life is to love Jesse and/or be imperiled so that Jesse has to rescue her.

This series’s tag line is so dumb. If crime is legal than it isn’t “crime.”

I mean, that’s what reviews are for, right, to read somebody’s honest opinion? I pretty much agree with everything that was said in the review, and have a general feeling that after a pretty solid first season this show is in a bit of a quagmire.

Yeah, and there’s such a dearth of existing material covering this topic, how will we ever find out what happened?

Seriously. “Fuck Batman! And fuck you too, DAD!”

Doesn’t look like anything to me.

Magneto was an existing word (it’s kind of a low-tech alternator) which had always been pronounced with a long-e sound.

If Bernard showed up as a host on the Westworld monitoring system he would have been revealed years ago, so it seems clear that he’s got some kind of cloaking system.

Listen, Serena Williams. Maybe it’s time to get out of the house and try to actually accomplish something in life instead of spending all your time watching cartoons.

They’re pretty good, but I wouldn’t shoot them up my butt.

Huh? Is he playing Spider-Woman?

This was a really interesting article, thanks!

The Punisher himself, in the context of the Netflix universe, was meant to be a reductio ad absurdum for Daredevil - here is what happens if you take vigilantism too far, you wind up becoming a killer with no moral compass. For the Punisher they had to invent a character who was even more violent and unscrupulous to

Yeah, uh, somebody thought Polybius was real?

I mean, don’t get me wrong, the ideas are interesting and on the whole I think Herbert is a genius, but as a novel it’s a little on the awful side. Leto just can’t shut the fuck up about his big philosophical ideas, which aren’t that convincing to begin with, and despite spending hundreds of pages ruminating on his
