Yeah, I thought the whole "kidnap and torture some random human" was kind of out of character for Pam. It's too bad, she was probably my favorite character before they started to focus on her, but this whole season she's become less and less interesting.

I'd say read the book first because it's a fairly plot-driven book, and the book might not be as good if you knew the plot twists beforehand.

I was sort of expecting them to chop off his nose on the show, but then have his character wear like a false stap-on nose made of tin or something (which the actor could wear over his real nose without requiring tons of CGI or prosthetic makeup).
