I don’t admire them, but it sure as hell is working for Trump.

not sure why so many so-called ‘progressives’ are content being only 0.01 percent better than republicans, rather than shooting for, say 100% better.
We elect people who aren’t sexual predators.
I said it yesterday, I’ll say it again: REDEEM YOURSELF! Go Bannon, raise metric fucktons of money for progressives, our causes and platforms.
Minneapolis here. I don’t think Tina Smith runs, or she would’ve had her hat in the gubernatorial race already. She pretty much indicated the end of her political ambitions when she shocked everybody paying attention to that race here by not doing that. If he appoints Smith, and I think that’s the likely choice, he…
I agree completely. I would only add to my response to the general group of arguments in the comments that I am not automatically assigned to the left and do not owe it my unwavering loyalty.
You mean the one where he called her a liar? That sincere apology?
“I remember that rehearsal differently, but what’s important is the impact it had on you and you felt violated by my actions and for that I apologize.”
How about we don’t start getting angry at each other for this? He’s gone. He became tainted and he will be replaced by another Dem. It sucks maybe for some people but that’s what SHOULD happen - your behavior has consequences. I think our rage would be better directed at the Republicans who are currently latching on…
You are almost the only voice of sanity in this entire damn comments section, so I’m going to reply to you.
Where did Franken show remorse for his actions? He called his accusers a bunch of liars (in more polite words). He only said he is remorseful that the women felt badly for being groped. He wasn’t sorry about groping them, he was sorry that they didn’t like it.
Right?! “all women should be believed, but *I* don’t want to think of myself as a predator in any context, and I have no sense whatsoever of how that makes me part of the problem”. Fucking unpack that privilege, mofo. There’s a lot in there.
This was utterly one of the most dickish, shitbag speeches ever. He denied everything, pimped his achievements, and pointed the finger everywhere else. Good riddance to this asshat.
The people complaining that Franken stepping aside “lets the Republicans win,” makes me really sad. Franken said that SOME of the allegations were untrue, so presumably some are true, though he spent no time acknowledging or apologizing for any of that side of things. If your end game is winning a showdown between two…
Well, I have to admit I have mixed emotions about this. It is true that Franken has worked for women’s issues, and we desperately need that, especially in the Senate.
They probably won’t. I’ll take the half victory, though, especially since it applies to the half that purports to represent me.
Happy to see the democratic party at least trying to lead by example. I am so sick of the notion these men have that ALL women should be heard and believed except THEIR accusers, who must be lying, remembering it wrong etc. I wish that these men could show more remorse and less self pity in these situations but at…
Good. There’s a long list of men who think of themselves as allies and of their behavior as playful or flirtatious or charming. It’s time for some reckoning so that spaces that advocate for women’s rights are actually safe for women.
It irks me that the Dems, rightfully, told Franken to resign while the GOP has blatant gropers and abusers front and center.
“i am going to be fine”
About goddamn time, Al.
