That don’t work for competitive esports. the latency is too unreliable for a balanced competition. Wouldn’t exactly be fair for the chinese team to play on a american server, nor would it be fair for the american team to play on the chinese server. Even East coast to West coast would be untenable.

Latency makes online play pretty undesirable. Lan has almost no latency, so it’s the most balanced environment.
